Hi, I’m Kyra!
I’m a Montreal-based harpist.
In 2009, I had my first harp lesson with Caroline Léonardelli in Ottawa and I haven’t looked back since. Later, I went on to study with Caroline Lizotte and Valérie Milot at the Université de Montréal and Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. Since then, I have been performing with professional ensembles such as the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Ensemble Obiora and the Opéra de Montréal, among others. I have been invited to appear as a soloist and chamber musician for recitals and special events, and have performed at festivals including Music and Beyond and the Festival du Grand Amour. I have also taken part in numerous collaborations as a studio artist and live performer, and opened my own home teaching studio!
Recordings
Marine
Recorded in 2021 at Exeter Sound Studios in Toronto, Marine is Kyra’s debut solo album. It contains a collection of early-20th century French and Russian romantic pieces, curated and produced during the height of the pandemic. Marine is the culmination of her studies up until the end of her first year of university.
From classical music to Latin American neo-folklore, Thalia Rosaura and Kyra Charlton form a voice and harp duo that explores a liberating and creative space around women's narratives through Latin American song.
Their interpretations tell stories of sacrifice, motherhood, and intimate struggles that have crossed generations and countries. Thalia & Kyra released their first album Entre Ellas April 2026.

Winner of the Juno award for the “Classical Album of the Year” (large ensemble) 2024
The Symphonie de la tempête de verglas by Maxime Goulet, recorded by the Orchestre Classique de Montréal in 2023, evokes the multifaceted nature of the crisis of 1998, inviting the audience to relive its defining moments. It also raises awareness of humanity's vulnerability to climate change and underscores our responsibility to the environment and the planet. At the same time, this work highlights the acts of solidarity and generosity that emerged amidst the events, reminding us of our capacity for empathy and heroism. Through these universal themes, more relevant than ever, the symphony resonates as a powerful and compelling testament.
